摘要
The Cu addition has been related with the formation of the epsilon metastable phase and the distribution of this phase in the alloy with the mechanical properties. The best properties are obtained increasing the Cu content combined with high pressure die casting (HPDC). In the present work a quantitative relationship of the effect of Cu content and cooling conditions on the epsilon phase in Zn4AlxCu alloys have been investigated. The minimum percentage of epsilon phase to form an adequate microstructure was measured. Also, this paper explains the type of microstructure formed by HPDC from cooling and microstructural evolution during solidification and proposes other casting processes to get a microstructure similar to that achieved by HPDC.
