摘要
Reliable and bandwidth-efficient soft handoff schemes that consider different QoS requirements are required for packetized data transmission in 3G W-CDMA cellular systems. Since soft handoff diminishes channel availability due to the consumption of multiple radio channels, the radio resources consumed by soft handoff must be minimized. A packet soft handoff scheme is proposed that uses punctured turbo coding and iterative decoding to increase spectral efficiency and data rate. The frame error rate performance for different puncturing patterns and Code rates is evaluated on an AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels.
