Tubal ligation under local anesthesia and conscious sedation by microlaparoscopy

Definitive Voluntary Surgical Contraception (DVSC) is the most common contraception method in Brazil and throughout the world. DVSC by laparoscopy is most commonly chosen because it is the most convenient, effective, and drug free. Although minilaparotomy and laparoscopy are the most common methods, microlaparoscopy techniques are often used. The aim of this work is to demonstrate the feasibility of tubal ligation by rnicrolaparoscopy, under local anesthesia and conscious sedation (TLLACS). We describe our protocol in detail to present this technique. TLLACS has advantages over conventional minilaparotomic and laparoscopic methods, and could be widely employed in family planning centers.
