A method to draw fully thermally coupled distillation column configurations for multicomponent distillation

摘要
A simple and easy to use stepwise procedure is presented to draw all possible fully thermally coupled distillation column configurations for the separation of an n-component feed mixture into n product streams, each enriched in one of the components. Several new configurations are found for feed mixtures containing four or more components. A recursive formula is derived to calculate the total number of feasible fully thermally coupled configurations for an n-component mixture.
