摘要
In spite of convincing theoretical argument in the literature, very little attention is paid to empirical identifying the importance of quality management in manufacturing strategy. The current literature defines quality as one of the primary competitive priorities for firms. This study develops an exploratory proposition that relates the characteristics of quality management used by Chinese industrial companies; the exploratory study presents the findings of an extensive survey of Chinese industrial companies. Based on the survey, the overall mean for the companies is highest for quality with 4.32 on five-point scale; the top most order winners for a company is conformance quality; Product durability is most important order winning criteria for companies P and R. So, it is becoming increasingly important for quality management for Chinese manufacturing companies to articulate and coherent manufacturing strategies that support their long-term business.
