ECR development for accelerated radioactive ion beams

摘要
The development of Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion Sources (ECRIS) for accelerated radioactive ion beams has seen a very fast evolution in the last years. This evolution is discussed in view of mainly three different approaches. The first one considers the production of the radioactive atoms in a target located externally of the ECRIS, the second one places the target inside the source in a region very close to the plasma and the third considers the use of a primary ion source for production of 1 + ions with subsequent injection in an ECRIS for charge multiplication. The advantages of each mode are discussed and the results of some tests are presented.
