Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) - an Evolving Discipline from the "Garbage of Electronics" to Global Intersystem Compatibility Reflections from the Viewpoint of the President of the IEEE EMC Society

The EMC Society of IEEE celebrated in 2007 its 50(th) anniversary while the IEEE celerates its 125(th) anniversary in 2009. The IEEE EMC Society has undergone revolutionary changes evolving from the "garbage of Electronics" to an intersystem, interdisciplinary and global concern during this period. The increased complexity due to the proliferation of electronics in all walks of life requires that EMC efforts be implemented globally, thorugh international, transnational and global cooperative efforts. The EMC Society of the IEEE serves a major role in ensuring global (electromagnetic) compatibility. Only through global outreach and cooperation call these goals be achieved.
