For packaging examination purposes the approach of the purely static behaviour of components is no longer useful. An elastic bearing in conjunction with excitation from carefully selected vehicle movements results in part movement for which space has to be reserved. In the present elaboration methods are presented to prognosticate packaging based on the dynamic behaviour of the components. Generation of CAD-envelopes, complete animation of single parts as well as analysis of critical locations are implemented. The scope includes unit packaging, ground clearance, wheel housing, exhaust system, driveline and hoses. A close relationship to the CAD environment is guaranteed and examples of car projects will be shown.
