Reactive power compensation in distribution networks with STATCOM by fuzzy logic theory application

摘要
In this paper a STATCOM using fuzzy logic controller to compensate reactive power in distribution networks is developed. The advantage of fuzzy control is that it is based on a linguistic description and does not require a mathematical model of the system. The performance of the fuzzy logic controller is compared with a conventional PI controller and results are presented under steady state and transient condition. The +/- 3MVAR STATCOM is connected to the 20kV B-2 bus through a 20(kv)/2(kv) Wye/Delta transformer. On this 20 MVA inductive network, the +/- 3MVAR STATCOM can correct voltage dip of +/- 12%. The secondly voltage is synthesized by a pulse width modulation inverter (PWM) using a 2.5 kHz chopping frequency.
