First demonstration of 1580 nm wavelength band WDM transmission for doubling usable bandwidth and suppressing FWM in DSF

摘要
The author; demonstrate WDM transmission in the unexplored 1580nm band, for the first time, using newly developed gain-shifted EDFAs. By using the 1580nm band, equally-spaced eight 10Gbit/s WDM channel, repeaterless transmission over 160km dispersion-shifted fibre is achieved without any four-wave mixing degradation.
