摘要
The role of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the socioeconomic transformation of the powerless has been recognised at both national and international levels. But market-inspired and globalisation-induced funding priorities and conditionalities have compelled these NGOs to re-think and re-examine their resource mobilisation strategies. Having discussed the repercussions of these funding mechanisms prevalent in India, the author investigates some recent trends and changes in foreign funding and explores the possibilities of the applicability of new funding paradigms in India, which have already been tested in Latin America and elsewhere. The author opines that NGOs should reach out to local communities to establish their credibility and then, step-by-step, take up issues. They should also enhance their professional capacity in areas as mentioned in this article.
