Electronics and metal finishing and processing

An overview of regulation affecting the electronics industry and the specific regulation used in the industry that might trigger particular regulatory requirements is presented. An activity-based, flow-allocation method is demonstrated to identify the costs and effluent generation from two generic printed wiring assembly designs. This approach is found helpful in implementing modeling of environmental effects. The need to make manufacturing processes more environmentally responsible across their life cycles is discussed. A formation evaluation process to judge the environmental implications of products and processes in the electronics industry is presented.
