摘要
This paper describes the work carried out in order to design a sensor to measure vibration. The inverse magnetostriction effect was chosen as the operating principle. Amorphous metallic alloys exhibiting high values of magnetostriction, were selected as sensing material. A stress analysis finite element method (FEM) package was utilised to assess the theoretical performance of a number of possible designs. The design exhibiting the most favourable behaviour was constructed and tested. Initial measurements show that the sensor has potential and with further improvements it should prove to be a commercially viable product. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science S.A.
