摘要
The article focuses on the analysis of new trends in the social and political spheres in France within the European migration crisis. The massive influx of refugees from the Middle East and North Africa exacerbated the growing contradictions in French society related to the colonial past. The author introduces the concept of an interdependent triad of notions "tolerance - identity - nationalism" and through this concept examines the social processes in the country referring on the latest statistical data. According to the last social surveys, the French overestimate the number of Muslims in the country by 4 times. More than a half of French citizens are against continuing the policy of accepting migrants. The author comes to the conclusion that under the strain of migration flows the French lose both national identity and tolerance towards accepting the culture of "the other". However no obvious manifestations of nationalism have been found, but the nationalist's rhetoric is increasingly being used by right-wing parties to gain political points, while the authorities are still in the process of developing a new concept for receiving migrants. The author predicts that in response to the current socio-political processes France will introduce a tougher migration policy based on the assimilation model.
