One step for synthesis of magnetic CuFe2O4 composites as photo-fenton catalyst for degradation organics

摘要
CuFe2O4 composite was successfully prepared by solution combustion synthesis method in one step using cupric nitrate, ferric nitrate and glycine as starting materials. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electronmicroscopy. The effect of Cu content on the synthesis of CuFe2O4 composite was studied in detail. The phase composition, gran size, and photo-Fenton activity of the composite affects by the Cu content. When the Cu content is 18%wt, the composite has the best photo-Fenton activity and the composite is composed of CuFe2O4 and CuO. The CuFe2O4 composite could degrade the 40 ppm MB, 20 ppm RhB and 20 ppm MO in 40, 30 and 50 min, respectively. In addition, the CuFe2O4 composite presents superparamagnetic behavior, and it is good for recycling. The results demonstrate the magnetic CuFe2O4 composite is an effective photo-Fenton catalyst for the degradation of organics in aqueous solution.
