摘要
Air pollutant emissions from landfills can cause adverse effects on living organisms of the surrounding areas. This work has been undertaken to assess fugitive pollutant emissions and their dispersion analysis downwind of a specific landfill site (Jebel Chakir landfill site, Tunis City, Northern Tunisia). Three different emission models, including the stoichiometric model, the first-order model, and the LandGEM model, were used for the quantification of emissions. The SCREEN3 dispersion model was also used to evaluate the dispersion of gaseous chemicals. The emission and meteorological conditions under which the models were applied referred to the worst-case scenario. This scenario was used for the evaluation of the maximum human exposure assessed beyond the Jebel Chakir landfill towards the residential areas. The above scenario provides the minimum downwind distance of the health-risk zone which is calculated to be equal to 1,500 m from the landfill.
