摘要
Sleep-related breathing disorder is an umbrella term for adisease entity with a variety of causes, which has a high prevalence. It is the basis for a multitude of chronic comorbidities and which can significantly impair the daily physical and mental well-being of those affected. The main symptoms are those of non-restorative sleep with daytime sleepiness and fatigue, attention and awareness disorders as well as mental symptoms, such as depression. All these symptoms can also represent an expression of epilepsy, be it structural or functional, due to recurrent nocturnal seizures or as an interference effect in the drug and/or neurostimulative treatment. For an individual symptom-oriented and successful therapy it is therefore necessary to recognize the interaction of the diseases and to differentiate them in the clinical follow-up.
