Transparent, highly dielectric poly(vinylidene fluoride) nanocomposite film homogeneously incorporating BaTiO3 nanoparticles with fluoroalkylsilane surface modifier

摘要
Incorporation of barium titanate (BT) nanoparticles surface-modified with a fluoroalkylsilane into poly(vinyldene fluoride) (PVDF) was performed to fabricate transparent nanocomposite films with high permittivity. The BT nanoparticles were prepared in a sol-gel Method using 2-methoxyehanol solvent. They were surface-modified with the fluoroalkylsilane to disperse them into N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone that was used in the successive process of dissolving PVDF. The surface modification with the fluoroalkylsilane was allowed to homogeneously incorporate the nanoparticles into PVDF films up to the BT content of 67 vol%. No distinct decrease in film transparency by the incorporation was observed for the films at the high loadings of BT nanoparticles. The transparent nanocomposite film could attain a permittivity as high as 44 at a ST content of 67 vol% with maintenance of dissipation factors lower than 0.06. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd.
