Synthesis and antimicrobial activities of novel 4H-1,4-benzothiazines and their sulfones

摘要
An elegant one step synthesis of substituted 4H-1,4-benzothiazines 4 has been achieved by the condensation of substituted 2-aminobenzenethiols 1 with beta-diketones 2 in dimethyl sulfoxide. Compounds 4 on refluxing with 30% hydrogen peroxide in gl acetic acid undergo oxidation and afford their sulfones 5. All the synthesized compound have been characterized by IR, (1)H NMR, Mass spectra and elemental analysis and screened for their antibacterial and antifungal activities.
