BER analysis of orthogonal transmit waveform with space-time diversity for MIMO CDMA systems

In this paper, we evaluate the performance of an orthogonal transmit waveform that exploits space-time diversity (OTW-STD) in a CDMA cellular environment. The OTW-STD waveform is used in conjuction with multiple transmit and multiple receive antenna (also known as Multi-input Multi-output or MIMO) systems. The performance of the OTW-STD waveform in a MIMO system is evaluated based on the bit-error-rate (BER) performance. The analytical BER formula for the OTWSTD waveform is derived as a function of the eigenvalues of the space-time-channel covariance matrix. The BER, results show that the OTW-STD system provides a significant performance improvement over the case of no diversity.
