Perezone as corrosion inhibitor for AISI 1018 steel immersed in NaCl saturated with CO2

摘要
An electrochemical study of natural compound perezone as a corrosion inhibitor of 1018 steel immersed in 3% NaCl solution saturated with CO2 was conducted through electrochemical impedance spectroscopy under static and turbulent flow conditions and inhibitor concentration in the 0-50-ppm range. It was determined that perezone provides good corrosion protection at 10-ppm concentration with efficiency of AE = 87% in static conditions, whereas in hydrodynamic conditions at both rotation rates of 100 and 500 rpm, the efficiency reached AE = 96 and 95%, respectively, at a concentration of 5 ppm. A thermodynamic analysis by means of the Langmuir adsorption model indicated that inhibitor molecules are physisorbed to the steel surface.
