A simple and safe method for clipping of small, broad-based and thin-walled aneurysms is described. Premature rupture during clipping and slip-out of the applied clip are frustrating and disastrous phenomena often encountered during surgery of these aneurysms. Clipping such aneurysms after they have been wrapped with a piece of cotton gauze is a safe and effective method to prevent premature rupture and slip-out of the clip. The authors report their experience and operative results of 12 patients treated with this technique. (C) Pearson Professional Ltd 1997
