摘要
A water jet exposed to a low subsonic air cross-flow was studied experimentally to determine the jet/spray trajectory based on the jet's zipper boundary. The nozzle diameter as well as the flow and water jet speeds were varied to provide a wide range of experimental conditions. Although this study is not entirely novel, the results of previous research are extended to low subsonic cross-flows having a maximum axial velocity of about 70 m/s. The previous assertion that data from the supersonic range could be extrapolated straightforwardly to subsonic cases was shown to be largely trite, even over a wider range of momentum flux ratios than those considered previously. In addition, an attempt was made to identify and discuss the possible reasons behind the lack of a universal jet/spray trajectory correlation.
