Simultaneous spectrophotometric estimation of aceclofenac and paracetamol in tablet dosage form

Aceclofenac and paracetamol are used as analgesic, anti-inflammatory and anti-pyretic agents, which are available in tablet dosage form in the ratio of 1:5. Two simple and accurate procedures for simultaneous determination of aceclofenac and paracetamol in tablet formulations have been developed. The methods employed are derivative spectrophotometry and Q analysis. Aceclofenac and paracetamol have absorption maxima at 274.5 nm and 244 nm respectively in methanol. Beer Lambert's law is obeyed in the concentration range of 2-20 mu g/mL for aceclofenac and 5-40 mu g/mL for paracetamol. The results of analysis have been validated by statistical and recovery studies.
