摘要
In vivo confocal Raman microspectroscopy has been used to study a spontaneous death process of a single budding yeast (S. cerevisiae) cell. The observed time-resolved Raman images indicate that, concomitantly with the sudden appearance of a dancing body in a vacuole, the mitochondrial metabolic activity of the cell is markedly lowered and that the subsequent disappearance of the vacuole is followed by an inevitable cell death within a few hours.
