From 720 female patients we selected a group of 167 cases with cellular changes specific to HPV infection (koilocytosis, spindle koilocytes, binucleations, multinucleations and dyskeratosis, BNC, dyskariosis) which had been subsequently HPV tested by SPF(10) LIPA assay for the identification of the 24 most relevant HPV genotypes. 113 women was found positive for both HPV Test and specific cellular abnormalities. These 113 was subsequently histopathologically examined. Cytological correlation of the study group HPV(+) accordingly to Bethesda System was the following: BCC -benign pattern with koilocytosis 7,07%;ASCUS/BNC -favouring L-SIL 12,38%; L-SIL-with koilocytosis suggestive for CIN 1-26,55%; H-SIL -suggestive for CIN 247,8%; H-SIL - suggestive for CIN 3-6,2%.
