摘要
Mitigation of climate change requires very deep reductions in greenhouse gas emissions over a long term. This need is strongly influencing the development of the energy production and consumption systems. A large demand is expected for new and advanced technologies that lead to emission reductions. In Finland, the National Technology Agency (Tekes) has started a three-year programme (1999-2002) to contribute to the technological choices available and theresearch and development required to achieve reductions in greenhouse emissions. The time scale of the technologies being studied extends to about 2030. The technologies are assessed in the context of their potenial for overall emission reductions and the technical and economic opportunities they offer.. In addition the potential barriers to implementation are evaluated. The objective is to identify the most significant development fields and items.
