摘要
Macrophage response to mannose-conjugated polyrotaxane (Man-PRX) was examined in terms of the morphological changes in macrophage-like J774.1 cells and their inflammation-related cytokine expression. The results obtained were compared with those by mannose-conjugated alpha-CD (Man-CD), mannan, and mannose-conjugated polyacrylamide (Man-PAAm). The largest percentage of the morphological change was observed for Man-PRX, which is presumably induced by mannose receptor-mediated endocytosis. In the cytokine expression experiments, anti-inflammatory cytokine was expressed by Man-PRX but the pro-inflammatory cytokine level was increased by Man-PAAm. Therefore, Man-PRX has great potential as anti-inflammatory biomaterial.
