摘要
This paper presents a finite-element model of electric upsetting. It is based on a mixed formulation and provides a simulation of heat generation in conjunction with the coupled thermo-mechanical problem of non-steady-state visco-plastic material flow. The model is applied to the simulation of electric upsetting of a round bar. Numerical experiments have shown an adequate sensitivity of the model to processing parameter variation and good agreement with the results of industrial experiments. The billet has an 'onion' shape and the specific temperature distribution obtained as a result of the simulation can then be used for the subsequent simulation of the conventional forming operation in closed dies that is important for the development of technology and improvement of product quality.
