摘要
Technical development play an important part in modern radiotherapy. Beside the introduction of techniques from stereotactic neurosurgery, treatment of malignant tumours has especially been influenced by the latest developments in computer science and medical imaging, The most important changes probably are the development of 3D treatment planning on the basis of CT and MRI, and the implementation of computer controlled Multi-Leaf-Collimators into modern Linacs. The development of inverse treatment planning and the initiation of intensity modulated radiotherapy are further milestones. All these innovations and developments contributed to an improved precision, efficiency and safety of radiotherapy with high energy photons: Modern 3D radiotherapy can be considered to be extremely conformal and connected with excellent properties in protecting healthy tissue.
