Experiences with new hydrophobic cycloaliphatic epoxy outdoor insulation systems

摘要
Hydrophobic cycloaliphatic epoxy (HCEP) resins were used to apply hydrophobicity transfer to pollution to confirm the durability of hydrophobicity transfer effect (HTE). A long-term irradiation test under humidity was conducted using a global UV test device to study the outdoor stability and weathering resistance of HCEP. It is suggested that hydrophobicity prevents the formation of completely saturated zones on insulator's surface thus reduced the discharge activity and decreased the probability of flashover. The analysis showed that HCEP had excellent creep resistance, thermal stability and erosion resistance compared to other typically used cycloaliphatic outdoor systems.
