Magnetic anisotropy and magnetoelastic properties of SmFe11Ti

摘要
We investigated the specific magnetization sigma(T, B), torque moments L(phi), Young's modulus E(T), internal friction Q(-1)(T), and magnetostriction lambda(B) of a single crystal and polycrystalline samples, of the SmFe11Ti compound, in the temperature region 77-700 K in magnetic fields up to 1.6 T. Below the Curie temperature (T-c=600 K) this compound was found to be a uniaxial highly anisotropic ferromagnet with a saturation magnetization sigma(s)=126 G.cm(3) g(-1) and the uniaxial anisotropy constant K-1 =4.2.10(7)erg/cm(3) at 300 K. The temperature dependence of Young's modulus shows typical metallic behavior. It was found that the magnetoelastic energy of SmFe11Ti is much smaller than the magnetocrystalline anisotropy energy.
