Diseases of the bile ducts. Part 1: Sonographic anatomy, examination technique, bile duct tumors

The following article reviews the current status of sonography of the bile ducts including sonographic anatomy and examination techniques. In the second chapter, tumors of the bile ducts are discussed with an emphasis placed on central bile duct carcinoma. After a review of recent studies, indications, technical aspects and the place of sonography in diagnosing various bile duct diseases are presented. Starting with the sonomorphologic changes, diagnostic lists to narrow down the differential diagnosis conclude the article.
