Avascular necrosis of the metacarpal head is a rare condition known to occur in conjunction with repetitive trauma, systemic lupus erythematosus, and the use of steroids. This clinical case reports a 31-year-old man with bilateral long finger metacarpal head avascular necrosis, treated with osteochondral mosaicplasty. (J Hand Surg 2010;35A:1264-1268.
