Revisiting Business Cycle Synchronization in East Asia

摘要：
Against the background of the rapid intra-regional trade, FDI and financial integration of East Asia, we examine the extent and nature of synchronization of business cycles in the region. We estimate BK filter and principal component models for quarterly real GDP 9 East Asian countries. A significant common factor is shared by all Asian economies considered during severe rescission. The degree of synchronization has fluctuated over time with an upward trend.
