摘要
Recent experimental investigations of the brain show that AMPA, GABA, intracellular calcium and calcium store play important role in various neural network activities such as wave propagation, long-term potentiation, and long-term depression. A model of bursting neuron, which includes calcium store and voltage-independent calcium current, is used for modeling neural network activity. Unlike other existing models (where the presynaptic potential determines connectivity), in our model [Ca2+], in the presynaptic cell determines the synaptic connections. It is found that the neural network model produces different types of activities, including spontaneous propagating waves which are observed in the experiments. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V.
