A flow injection analysis system based on electrochemical gas sensor is used for the direct determination of sulfur dioxide in the form of gas. The influence of connective modes of the flow system, gas flow rates and gas pressure in the flow system is discussed in detail. Flow injection analysis (FIA) is compared with continuous flow analysis (CFA) in signal response curves, carrier gas flow rates, and sample volume. The method of FIA has good reproducible with a RSD of 0.7% (n = 12,. 2890 x 10(-6) mol/mol SO2) and rapid analysis of 50 samples/h, while the steady state can be achieved and the signal sensitivity is higher in CFA.
