摘要
The current Internet based on the best-effort transport does not offer any QoS guarantees for streaming real-time multimedia services. To deal with the problems, extensive researches for end system-based real-time streaming traffic control methods have been carried out. The efficiencies of those methods highly depend on how exactly sender can detect the change of the network status. in this paper, we carried out some experiments for finding out the indicators that can reflect the change of network status properly. In the experiments, we captured and analyzed packet traces between hosts connected via the Internet, in which the hosts were geographically separated far away from each other. For finding the indicators, we focused on the two important issues that can affect the performances of the methodology: what information should be included in the feedback, and how frequently the receiver should send the feedback information. From the experiments, we found that delay difference at the receiver side can be a good measure for detecting the network status.(1)
