摘要
In this work, a new approach to a thermal sensation display is being researched. The thermal sensation when touching an object depends on several factors like the temperature of the object and its thermal conductivity. Although thermal sensation using the temperature is well known, this is an attempt in controlling the thermal conductivity of a surface using a new device. This device contains two cavities, one full of air with low thermal conductivity and another full of liquid metal with high thermal conductivity. When the liquid metal fills the air cavity, the thermal conductivity of the device increasing, thus changing the thermal perception A mechatronic system based on Arduino is controlling the volume of liquid metal of the device. Based on this, some tests on volunteers are being made to test the usability of this technology as a mean to transmit information. It can also be used to test the thermal perception of humans.
