摘要
BACKGROUND: The study aimed to compare the radiological and clinical characteristics, diagnostic criteria, and treatment outcomes in COVID-19 patients with and without systemic lupus erythematosus.METHODS: This study was performed on 30 patients with lupus and COVID-19 simultaneously and 30 patients without lupus who were re-ferred to Taleghani Hospital from June 2021 to August 2022. Data were included gender, age, smoking, clinical symptoms, laboratory finding, CT scan findings, hospitalization in ICU, and ventilator consumption.RESULTS: In cardiac findings, in the lupus group, 8 (26.7%) patients and in the control group, 1 (3.3%) had pericardial effusion (P=0.006). In Pluero Pulmonary finding, in the lupus group, 19 (63.3%) patients and in the control group, 4 (13.3%) had pleuritic (P<0.001). In the lupus group, 15 (50%) patients and in the control group, 4 (13.3%) had consolidation (P=0.005). The lobes of the left and right lungs were equally affected by COVID-19 in both groups. Also, the involvement of Lingual in the lupus group was higher than in the control group (P=0.010). The mortality rate was 20.0% in the lupus group compared to 3.3% in the control group (P=0.051).CONCLUSIONS: The results showed that cases with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) as one of the most common rheumatological disorders are more vulnerable to COVID-19 and are more likely to have complications due to lung involvement, as one of the most prominent and important conflicts in these patients.
