摘要
Green extraction processes to obtain high value bioactive compounds from raw natural materials and wastes has gained attention the past few years. In the present study, we investigated a Natural Deep Eutectic Solvent derived from two natural products, namely choline chloride and L(+)-tartaric acid as a potential solvent for the extraction of phenolic compounds from Greek propolis and carotenoids from apricot and shrimp wastes. High energy techniques were used in combination with the NaDES in order to minimize the extraction time and maximize the yield. Two- and three-level experimental design was implemented in order to statistically investigate the correlation between the extraction conditions and the obtained extracts and find the optimum conditions. The proposed methodology resulted in the efficient extraction of the desired bioactive compounds despite their different structure and polarity. The optimized process could be considered as a competitive alternative to conventional processes. (C) 2019 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
