Venlafaxine in therapy of comorbid generalized anxiety disorder with depressive disorder

The generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is a common anxiety disorder with a chronic course and a high comorbidity especially with depressive disorders. New antidepressants provide on effective and safe treatment. A 27-year-old ambulant female patient with a GAD and depressive disorder (ICD-10), treated with the SNRI Venlafaxine (225 mg/day), reached a complete remission within four weeks. The diagnostic problems of the differentiation of depression and GAD are also discussed.
