Supramolecular association of M2+•••π induced by different electrostatic properties using naphthyl substituted β-diketonate complexes (metal = Cu, Pd, Pt)

摘要
Expanded pi-conjugated coordination complexes, [M(L-2)(2)] (M = Cu2+, Pd2+, and Pt2+; L-2 = dinaphthoylmethanido(-)), were prepared and the different metal characteristics were found due to the supramolecular associations: [Cu(L-2)(2)] shows a remarkable M2+center dot center dot center dot pi interaction (3.249 angstrom) inducing the cationicity of Cu2+ and the strength of the interactions clearly decreases for the Pd2+ and Pt2+ ions (3.785 and 4.610 angstrom), indicating their electron-rich and nucleophilic characteristics.
