Influence of different solvents on the preparation and photocatalytic property of BiOCl toward decontamination of phenol and perfluorooctanoic acid

摘要
BiOCl-based photocatalysts were prepared by a solvothermal approach using different solvents as medium. BiOCl prepared by glacial acetic acid exhibits the highest separation rate of photo-induced charge pairs. Scanning electron microscope images indicate that the solvents play an essential role in affecting the crystal growth and morphology of BiOCl. Photocatalytic properties of BiOCl prepared by different solvents were evaluated using Rhodamine B, phenol and perfluorooctanoic acid as model pollutant. The results illustrate that prepared BiOCl represents different photocatalytic activities toward removal of three simulated pollutants. Among them, BiOCl prepared using glacial acetic acid as solvent displays the highest photocatalytic performance.
