On the synthesis and physical properties of the intermetallic CeCuAl

摘要
CeCuAl is obtained as almost single phase after annealing treatment at 873 K under a vacuum. It decomposes peritectically between 873 and 923 K, giving a mixture of three compounds: CeCu3Al2, Ce2Cu2Al and Ce(Cu0.32Al0.68)(2). Its investigation by electrical resistivity and magnetization measurements reveals the occurrence of antiferromagnetic ordering below T-N=5.2(2) K. This behaviour is reported for the first time.
