Calculation and correction of thrust force for a linear actuator

摘要
This paper presents force studying for a linear actuator. Analytical expressions can be derived to calculate force value when simplifying cases. In order to know precisely an actuator performance indeed, effective FEM method is used to analyze electromagnetic field and forces at different situations. Comparing these results from analytical values and simulation shows that they are mostly associated for longer distance. Otherwise thrust force values from analytical formulae must be corrected by suitable FEM calculation for shorter distance. Therefore a critical line has been proposed here for a special example, which influences precision of force calculation. The conclusions are useful for other similar devices and helpful for engineering design.
