On the structure of ZnI2

摘要：
A possible crystal structure of ZnI2 is proposed. The crystal structure determination was carried out by trial and error method incorporating corrections on the observed diffraction peak's intensity for polarization and Lorentz force. The study shows that the zinc and iodide bonds in the crystal structure are held together by ionic bonds. The interatomic distances in the structure was computed by estimating the position co-ordinations, and the bond lengths of Zn-I1 and Zn-I2 was found to be 5.827 and 7.303 Ȧ.
