Dielectric relaxation and viscoelastic properties of mesomorphic phases of p-alkoxybenzylidene-p-n-butylanilines

摘要
The dielectric permittivity and dielectric loss for N-8 and N-37 nematic liquid crystals were measured over the temperature range from 293 to 343 K at pressures up to 60 MPa and frequencies of 1 kHz and 1 MHz. The values of the low-frequency dielectric relaxation time were calculated. The temperature and pressure dependences of the dielectric relaxation time were obtained by the method of reduced coordinates. The enthalpy and volume of activation were estimated. The possibility that the dielectric relaxation time depends on the modulus of orientational elasticity and hydrodynamic dissipative kinetic coefficients of the nematic liquid crystals was examined.
