摘要：

In this contribution, the focus of attention is the new designation "Martens Hardness HM" for the "Hardness under test force" (former designation "Universal Hardness HU"). This decision was unanimously approved by the relevant standards committee ISO/TC 164/SC 3 "Hardness Testing of Metals" during its meeting on 20/21 June 2000 in Berlin. The motive for using the designation "Martens" is also described.
