High-efficiency control of transmitted light with a three-layered plasmonic metasurface

A three-layered plasmonic metasurface is constructed for high-efficiency control of transmitted light. The metasurface contains metal antennas to steer light and a grating that acts as a polarizer to raise the efficiency. The optical properties are studied by an analytical model along with numerical simulations. Multiple-beam interference and standing wave are significant factors in this work. Simulated results agree with the theories. The efficiency of the metasurface is over 15 times higher than that of the single-layered metasurface. This highefficiency three-layered design can be used in many optical integrated devices.
